Im back. Yes! I'm back for more than 10 days!
Still not in the working mood. Thank God that He has placed many people in my life just to help me in my career. Haven't been calling up people but people just call me up for plans. Thank God!
Besides that, I have so much to write.
Aceh, Banda Aceh, this trip has really been a life experience for me.
One week is just nice. I love this trip, my team members (gosh, they all so cute!), the people there, the songs.. just that I really miss my bathroom back home. :p
There, we have to bath with yellowish- brownish water from a well like container in the bathroom. Also, we have to brush our teeth with mineral water. Hitting mosquitoes become one of our favorite past times. :)
I really think any Singaporeans should visit & even volunteer in such countries/town one of these days.. it brings us back to basics. Back to our simple lifestyle.
One of the things I brought home with me is the appreciation of simplicity.
On the route back to Singapore, the thought of our stressful lifestyle here reallys....
For a moment, I thought that life should be so simple. Simple with less expectations bring greater joy & contentment.
I came back to Singapore with a heart wanting to stop worrying about the many things in life. (career, goals, ...etc)
While some people are thinking of committing sucide here in Singapore just because of BGR problem or fail to do well in exams, people in Indonesia are thinking of how to survive another day without shelter. And they are so contented to just have some food & a tent to stay in.
Shouldn't we be more grateful for the things we have now and stop worrying about the unnecessaries in life?
After a mere 12 days of staying in Singapore again, I'm beginning to start worrying about my career & goals in life again. The people we interact with somehow contribute to how we think. When everyone is striving hard to succeed in life, (monetary sense, to be financially independant one day.. etc) somehow you will be force to think likewise.
well well, yes, it's important to do well in whatever we are doing. So Shirley, wake up & really work hard for your goals again! :)
Hmm, i'm not worrying. I'm just wanting to do well in life, & at the same time, appreciating the people in my life & balancing my life with the right priorities.
back to aceh....
I'm really touched by my team members as I can really see Jesus in them. Simple faith, simple love for people. :)
Many times, people wonder why & how we know Jesus is real.
Jesus can be felt & seen in people's lives. When we get close enough to someone, we become like that person. When a Christian get close to Jesus, Jesus can be seen in them.
On the last day before we leave for SIngapore, we had the priviledge to shop at Medan largest hypermart that is opened for only a few days. Right at the corner, I spotted a VCD shop. As i walked closer to it, I realised that they are playing Mandarin Christian songs & it's my favorite Mandarin Christian Pastor Lin Yi Zong concert disc!
Wow, Indonesia may be the largest Muslim nation, but Christianity is no longer a "foreign word" there. Many people are listening to Christian music & they have Bashasa Indonesia Chrisian songs too! And they are very very nice!!!
I bought the discs back home!
While listening to those Malays worshipping Jesus & seeing them loving Jesus so much, i teared. Our God is really different. Our God is love. And in Him, we find love & we are loved! Just being in the presence of God satisfies my soul so much... God, thank you for sending Jesus to die for us. Thank you Lord!
